“I want to come home Daddy.”

These are hard words to hear from my little 4 year old princess. I thought I would Skype from the restaurant the other night as we were celebrating the 23rd birthday of my oldest son.  After all, this would allow the family to be together, even though we were not. I called and everyone was able to see Alicia and mommy. Alicia was able to see her two brothers and sister all celebrating Alex’s birthday. After we hung up she started crying and told mommy that she wanted to go home to California.

Later that night when I got home I called to say goodnight and Alicia was still crying. She got on the phone and said, “I want to come home Daddy.” Ouch….

I could fly down and pick up Alicia and bring her back, but within a few days she would be crying for mommy. My wife and I have talked about this before, when Alicia told me it was time for me to buy some tickets for her and mommy to fly home.

It breaks my heart to see my daughter sad and crying, but I know God is allowing this in her life and this will build her into the tough little girl that will fight for the rights of others.

Tearing up families affects everyone, even the children. It is time for the government to stop splitting families up and go after the real felons.
